Good to know

Before you board.

Where do we meet?

Rushbrook Harbour, 299 George Hills Way, Prince Rupert. There is a loading area at the bottom of the ramp leading down to the main docks — you’ll find us there. Pay parking at the dock is $5/day.

When do we depart?

Standard departure is 6 am from May 15 to Aug 20, 6:30 am Aug 21 to Sep 9, and 7 am Sep 10–30. Off-season departure times are confirmed at booking.

What should we bring?

Tidal-waters fishing licence (with salmon conservation stamp if keeping salmon), lunch and snacks, layered clothes, rain gear, weatherproof footwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, camera, and seasickness medication just in case. Coolers for transporting fish home can be bought in town. Overnight trips: add sleeping bag, pillow and meals.

Can we bring the kids?

Absolutely — Sunset Charters is a family-friendly operation and kids are welcome aboard.

Will I get seasick?

The main fishing grounds are partly protected and not prone to big offshore swells. With so many islands and bays to fish, the boats can usually stay out of rough weather — and still catch fish. If you’re prone to seasickness, bring anti-nausea medication to be safe.

How do we get to Prince Rupert?

Direct daily flights from Vancouver, or drive the scenic route. BC Ferries sails from Port Hardy, and there are regular ferry sailings between Prince Rupert and Alaska.

Cancellation policy: deposits transfer to another date in the same or following season when you cancel 30+ days out (50% value 10–29 days out; non-transferable within 9 days). If the guide cancels for extreme weather, your deposit is fully refunded.
